Unit Overview

When people bike, board, or play ball, they wear a helmet to keep them safe. But how do helmets work? Students participating in this unit learn how different types of helmets are constructed and how they protect the brain. They then use each step of the Engineering Design Process as they become biomechanical engineers and design their own helmet to crash test.

Core Program Unit Components

We recommend one Educator Guide per teacher and one Materials Kit per 24 learners. Together, these components create a high-quality, hands-on STEM learning experience.
