Join us at CSTA 2021, a Virtual Conference on Computer Science Innovation!

Posted by EiE Team on Friday, October 8, 2021

We’re excited to present at CSTA NE 2021, a virtual conference about Computer Science! This year’s theme is Innovation and our expert curriculum designer, Brianna Wilkinson, will present an hourlong session about computational thinking!

In this session for elementary and middle school educators and leaders, Brianna will introduce the EiE approach to computational thinking.  Brianna will explain how integrating computational thinking and design thinking supports student success across disciplines. Then, she will share the process we use to identify the things that learners feel, think, and do when they are engaged in these types of thinking. These “Habits of Mind” were developed based on research about the fields of computer science and engineering, as well as an understanding of educational practices. She will also share practical tools for cultivating computational thinking in the classroom, including descriptions of what it will look like to a teacher or administrator and discussion prompts that can be used in one-on-one or group conversations. The session will include facilitated discussion throughout and time for questions at the end.
