Over two-dozen teachers and educators joined the YES Professional Learning team for a fantastic workshop on computer science and computational thinking. The workshop, generously sponsored by Dell Technologies, took place over the course of two days in late April at the Museum of Science, Boston. Time flew by, thanks to the incredible Professional Learning team.

“It's a credit to the facilitators that both days of this workshop were 6.5 hours long and absolutely none of it was boring,” said one attendee.

Participants learned how to introduce computer science concepts into classrooms and engaged in the very activities their students would engage in while building computational thinking skills. Although the focus was on computers, the lessons were universal.

“...The concepts and teaching techniques discussed in this workshop are almost universally applicableor at least adaptableto any field or discipline,” the attendee continued. “So no matter what you teach, or how old your students are, you will get SOMETHING out of this workshop.”

Led by Professional Learning instructors Shannon, Kendall, and Carrie, the group in attendance left with new friends and a new appreciation for the YES framework and model.

“The facilitators were amazingcaring, intuitive, and very informative!” said another participant. “I love the innovative way that YES is encouraging the connections between engineering and computer science.”

Participants received a free YES curriculum kit of their choosing, courtesy of Dell Technologies.
