Spotlight: Bye, Bye Bug

Posted by EiE Team on Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Have you explored our new EiE Families site? Designed to support at-home and on-the-go STEM learning for families with kids ages 4 - 11, our new site extends learning beyond the classroom with fun design challenges, games, and more!

Start your exploration with a free, interactive, family-favorite activity, Bye, Bye Bug.

Kenji and Emi have a problem. It’s bedtime and they just found a small bug crawling in their room! Kenji is afraid of bugs and cannot fall asleep until the bug is gone. Thankfully, they know how to think like engineers!

Available in both English and Spanish, you and your learners can help Emi and Kenji engineer a solution to move a ladybug in their bedroom safely back outside using materials from around the house and practicing environmental engineering skills along the way.

Children as young as four can participate, though they may need a bit more support. Older kids can use their imaginations to create more complicated design solutions to remove the bug. You can read this free downloadable activity book with your child, or, if they’re ready, let them read it to you.

Our award-winning curricula and activities can be used anytime, anywhere to enjoy STEM learning at home and on-the-go. For more family activities, visit our new website at families.eie.org
