The EiE Professional Development Team works tirelessly to find innovative ways to make high-quality, affordable professional development accessible to educators all over the world. That’s why we’ve been so excited to roll out our new Online PD experiences. Over the past year, we’ve conducted webinars about habits of mind and engineering in out-of-school time, and we’ve had some amazing discussions with educators around the country about STEM integration and ELA connections. In March, we mentioned our brand new Online PD Scholarship on the blog, and we were blown away by the response! From the huge volume of applications, the Online PD team has pulled together an amazing team of dedicated educators to help us pilot test the very first online PD workshop series.
Each scholarship includes a three-day online PD workshop series, a stipend, and a complete set of classroom materials: an EiE Teacher Guide, a class set of storybooks, and a Materials Kit.
Applicants were asked to submit examples of STEM lessons they currently teach, share ideas for integrating engineering with other subjects, and reflect on why engineering is important for elementary students. The selection process also screened for teacher leaders who show strong potential to share what they learn through the scholarship with their colleagues. The task of narrowing down the thoughtful and insightful applications was not easy, but the EiE PD Team selected a group of 31 highly motivated educators to test this exciting new PD experience.
Congratulations to our inaugural Online PD Workshop group!
