The EiE team is hitting the road to attend the NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) National Conference in St. Louis from April 11-14! We’ll have fun, hands-on activities at our booth, two engaging sessions to immerse attendees in engineering challenges, an exciting PD giveaway, and plenty of chances to meet with members of the EiE team. Will you be attending the conference this year? Read on to learn more about our schedule and be sure to stop by booth #1739 and say hello!
Our Sessions
The EiE team will conduct two hands-on sessions at NSTA, so you can learn more about how EiE supports English learners and get firsthand experience with some of our units. Join us for:
- Anchoring Engineering with ELA in the Elementary Classroom
Friday, April 12, 8:00-9:00 AM | Landmark 5, Mariott St. Louis Grand
Reflect on how to use engineering design challenges to engage students in authentic learning experiences that meet CCSS Anchor Standards for Literacy. - Come Sail Away! Supporting English Learners Through Engineering Experiences
Saturday, April 13, 9:30-10:30 AM | Gateway A, Mariott St. Louis Grand
Attention will be paid to supporting English learners in elementary classrooms. We will explore materials and build background knowledge necessary for an inclusive engineering activity.
Catch the Engineering Bug at Booth 1739
Stop by our booth to enter a raffle to win a free PD session! You can also try a hands-on activity from Outbreak Alert!: Engineering a Pandemic Response, one of our Engineering Everywhere units for grades 6-8. You’ll be challenged to engineer a model antivirus that will prevent a virus from sticking to an inner-tube "cell wall" when tossed from a few feet away. And you'll be able to take home an NSTA-exclusive button and a free activity download as thanks for stopping by! As always, our staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have about our PreK-8 curricula.
If you'd like to talk with us about how we can help you implement engineering in your school or district, be sure to schedule a meeting with a member of the EiE team.
